Here are the current tiger profiles:

Cathay

  • Single-minded to love, jealousy
  • Brave, Cautious, a good hunter and fighter
  • Generous on food
  • Care for other tigers
  • A caring, responsible, and tender mother to her cubs

Cathay arrived at the Laohu Valley reserve in September 2003 after a long journey from China. Cathay is our most playful tiger. She loves to play either with toys (the football is her favourite) or other tigers. Cathay also loves water and can often be found lying or playing in their drinking trough.

  • Madonna

  • Charming, elegant, lovely; hates strangers and often threatens them
  • Loves playing, invented a lot of game, good at climbing trees; flirtatious; needs company so much that rather stoop to compromise sometimes
  • likes to assume great airs; elusory
  • Has patience to hunt, but rather asks others to do the hard job.

Madonna is the cutest tiger and one of the staff’s favourites. When she arrived at Laohu Valley in November 2004 she was in pain (due to a broken tooth) and severely dehydrated, leading to a natural shyness. Even though she is the smallest, she is definitely the bravest. Recently Madonna was found to be successfully hunting entirely on her own, proving that she is not only cute, but also a really ferocious tiger too!

  • TigerWoods

  • Gluttonous, with no eating manners at all, love to play with his food
  • Simple and honest, doesn’t like to fight; often be beaten, act slow and often be hit before he touches others
  • A lech who doesn’t have confidence to make it right!
  • Most lovely and cute, likes showing off in front of the camera

TigerWoods is the clown out of the three of tigers and has a certain arrogance about him. TigerWoods loves attention and whenever there are any film crews around he has a habit of playing 'cute', rolling onto his back and looking up at you with his big brown eyes.

  • Hulooo

Hulooo, the male South China Tiger cub, was born at Laohu Valley Reserve in South Africa at 23:30 on November 23rd 2007. He is the first South China Tiger born outside of China. He weighed 1.2 kg at birth. He is very playful, especially when he has playmates around. He is the first cub of the female "Cathay" and the male "TigerWoods", both undergoing rewilding training at the Laohu Valley Reserve.

    327

  • A typical zoo tiger: once the paw touched grass he would swing it for a long time; not used to the tough ground; love his cage; like to play with people and stand up on his hind legs like people.
  • Have strong wills and stubborn, sometimes did stupid things because of that.
  • Vocalize, can made different kind of strange sound; be able to complain with his sound; make a sound like hyena.
  • Greedy and selfish on food

327 (soon to be named) is the newest recruit to the Laohu Valley Reserve. He has come over from China with the task of mating with Cathay. 327 (a stud tiger), is of good health and has enjoyed settling in at the Laohu Valley Reserve. We have good reason to be hopeful that 327 will father a number of cubs in the future and is making good progress in his new home.
