Week 292 ( 27th Mar - 2nd Apr 2009 )

Is Cathay confused?

This week Cathay was acting weird and I think even TigerWoods was confused.

Earlier in the week, TigerWoods was stalking Cathay, when he leapt forward; Cathay jumped around, startled, but chuffed at him and then became antagonistic, growling- with such vehemence that she was wheezing - and lying down with her chest on the ground twisted to one side and her butt in the air clawing at him whenever he came within range and he; a sucker for punishment; kept on coming back for more.

Later the same afternoon, they were playing like nothing had ever happened; Cathay was first at the food and was trying to decide which of the two legs she should eat when TigerWoods chuffed and stormed through the gate. Cathay chuffed in return and scampered away for about five steps, screamed to a halt and charged back at him, he sped off with Cathay behind him. When she finally tired of the game she allowed TigerWoods to eat and she took procession of the other leg.

The next day Cathay and TigerWoods were lying together in the shade of a fairly large bush flicking their ears and tails at the bothersome flies. I noticed that TigerWoods had a new tear at the top of his left ear thanks to Cathay and her claw waving; it didn’t bother him at all though.

On Wednesday, TigerWoods was spraying the fence, and Cathay and every now and then, a couple of chuffs were exchanged. In the afternoon they took turns getting into and out of the water trough, first TigerWoods and then Cathay. Whilst she was in the trough, TigerWoods was next to her carefully aiming, he managed to spray Cathay, the water in the trough and some of the outside, feeling sure that he hadn’t done it right he half climbed in and continued, Cathay got the stone needle and scrambled out, pushing him away and then she added her share. She walked away and returned to the trough and scent marked it again, twice in succession. TigerWoods returned and overlaid some more of his and by the time they had finished I could smell the scent from where I was standing outside the front fence and I am positive that the level of the water in the trough had risen somewhat.
